Katidid Design

In Business, Projects by Matt0 Comments

It’s a work in progress, at least for Kevin and Kati Schroeder.  They’re parents of our friend Matt Schroeder from our church.  Kati has been creating custom cross-stich patterns for years now and doing quite well.  This will be their first foray into running their own site, so I recommended my storefront theme as a basis for their shop to allow them to explore this new venture less expensively than usual and with less hassle.

Basically, what you get when you bundle my storefront theme with the wp-e-commerce plugin is a shop in a box.  You upload a logo, choose some colors, enter your products and your paypal username and you’re in business!  We put a little more customization than that into this site though, as I wanted it to be extra special…first there are 2 different shops, one for wholesale customers (protected by a login), and one for regular retail customers.  I designed a custom featured area on the homepage that is not available with the regular theme and customized the design of their shop pages to allow for Kati to add a quote at the top of each product, and for customers to be able to rate each design.

All in all, it’s pretty good looking and this design has a proven track record of sales.  You can check out the goods, (and the finished design) at http://katididdesign.com.
